SBSTA-17

Technology transfer was considered by SBSTA-17, which reviewed the annual progress report of the Expert Group on technology transfer. A draft decision was prepared and transmitted to the COP for adoption. In this decision, Parties are urged to continue to provide support to developing countries. The COP took note of several initiatives on technology transfer, and requested the Secretariat to prepare technical papers and organize a workshop on enabling environments for technology transfer. It further requested the SBSTA Chair to conduct consultations and facilitate collaboration among expert groups established under the Convention, on their work programs on cross-cutting issues, including those relating to technology transfer and capacity-building activities, and to take into account, at SBSTA-19, innovative ways to address the outcomes of technology assessments for developing countries and those with economies in transition.
