Business Organizations, Associations and Programmes

Pew Center on Global Climate Change: Twenty-one major companies, with most included in the Fortune 500, are working through the Center to educate the public and key policy makers about the causes and potential consequences of climate change.

World Business Council For Sustainable Development (WBCSD): The WBCSD is a coalition of some 150 international companies united by a shared commitment to sustainable development, i.e. environmental protection, social equity and economic growth.

International Climate Change Partnership (ICCP): The ICCP is a global coalition of companies and trade associations from diverse industries committed to constructive and responsible participation in the international policy process concerning global climate change.

International Chamber of Commerce (ICC): ICC offers business positions, joint programs and press releases on climate change.

Business Council for Sustainable Energy: The Council advocates policies that promote U.S. economic, environmental and national security goals.

European Business Council for a Sustainable Energy Future (e5): Associated with the BCSE, the Council focuses on the promotion of clean energy technologies as solutions to certain environmental problems -- including climate change.

Alliance for Responsible Atmospheric Policy: The Alliance is a coalition of companies that produce chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs), and hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs); manufacture products that use these chemicals; and represent organizations whose services rely on these chemicals.

NGO/Industry/Intergovernmental Programs

WRI - GHG Protocol Initiative: The initiative brings together many leading experts on greenhouse gas emissions. The participants, drawn from business, governments and NGOs, are working in partnership to design, disseminate and promote the use of an international corporate protocol for measuring and reporting business greenhouse gas emissions.

US Climate Savers Program-WWF: With the US Climate Savers Program, the World Wildlife Fund is working with the Center for Energy and Climate Solutions to help businesses develop and implement leading edge climate and energy solutions.

World Resource Institute (WRI)-Climate Protection Initiative: The Climate Protection Initiative (CPI) is a partnership between WRI and private firms to identify acceptable policies and business strategies for achieving strong climate protection goals.

Virtual University for Sustainable Development - Climate Change and the CDM: This site aims to give a first introduction for business managers and government officials to what the CDM is all about and how the UNFCCC may be relevant for businesses

Climate Technology Initiative (CTI): The CTI's mission is to promote the objectives of the UNFCCC by fostering international co-operation for accelerated development and diffusion of climate-friendly technologies and practices for all activities and greenhouse gases.

Senter International: Senter is the agency which is responsible for the execution of grant schemes on behalf of a range of Dutch ministries.

Emissions Trading Associations, Firms and Companies

International Emissions Trading Association (IETA): The International Emissions Trading Association (IETA) is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to the establishment of effective systems for trading in greenhouse gas emissions by businesses.

Emission Marketing Association (EMA):The EMA promotes the advancement and application of policy and regulation relevant to market-based emission trading systems, encourage and facilitate information exchange among members, and other professional and technical groups, and the public, and provide programs in education and training to improve knowledge and skills of members and the understanding and acceptance by the public.

Chicago Climate Exchange: The Chicago Climate Exchange is the first U.S. voluntary pilot program for trading of greenhouse gases. Its goal is to design and implement a voluntary private pilot market first based in seven U.S. Midwestern states and later expanded to include national and international sources.

CO2e.com: Cantor Fitzgerald and PricewaterhouseCoopers have jointly developed a new web site that intends to expand and simplify carbon commerce for those already involved and enable newcomers to get up and running as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Natsource: Natsource has developed a range of risk management approaches that assist market participants in capturing opportunity and hedging exposure to GHG emission constraints.

Point Carbon: Founded in May 2000 by a group of Norwegian researchers and consultants, the core competencies include international and regional climate policy, mathematical modeling and simulation, and methods for expert evaluation.

Evomarkets.com: Services include policy advice and policy development and programs to manage policies, stakeholder relationships, commercial risks.

C*Trade: C*Trade.org provides online information on carbon management, including international carbon sequestration and carbon trading. The site acts as an educational and technical resource for the identification, design, development, verification, registration and certification of carbon offset projects

Emissions Trading Group (ETG): The Emissions Trading Group (ETG) has worked with the UK Government to develop a trading market The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) and Advisory Committee on Business and the Environment (ACBE) formed the ETG in June 1999.

EcoCarbon: EcoCarbon is a non-profit industry organization aimed at collaboration on emissions trading activities.

EcoSecurities: An environmental finance company which specializes in advising on strategy regarding global warming issues.

Trexler Climate + Energy Services, Inc. (TC+ES): A company the provides expertise related to corporate risk assessment and strategic planning, decision support tools for corporate clients, and identification of mitigation opportunities and evaluation and development of carbon offset projects.

Environmental Finance Magazine: A monthly magazine covering the ever-increasing impact of environmental issues on the financial sector and its corporate clients.
